Dear friends

I work with a young group on color imaging and digital image
processing. we are going to add some more professional instruments to
our groups (this group has been recently made by separating from color
physiscs dep.). Would you please let me know your suggestions for
specification of scanner, camera, printer and any other usefull
instrument.

Best regards,

Dear Gorji,
Can you clarify more what are your groups research area & what exactly
that want to achieve?
I think specification of scanner, camera, printer etc are completely
depend on what you want to get out of it!

Dear Sheikh Faridul Hasan

Our group has two branch: 1. color imaging (especially color
management) and research on the different color physics phenomena such
as color constancy, metamerism & ... for image media 2. color image
processing (especially for monitoring and quality control).

You can buy a variety of new and used instruments on EBay or DoveBid.
I would think that a basic lightmeter (photometer) such as from Extech
(http://www.extech-direct.com/Light_Meters_s/23.htm) would be one of
the basic instruments you'd want to have. You could also have a
colorimeter, or if your budget is enough, a spectrophotometer. A
Macbeth chart (http://www.xrite.com/top_munsell.aspx) is also one of
the basic things you'd need. You might also want to get a screen
calibration instrument (x-rite/Macbeth has some). I think that a
Munsell color solid (see x-rite site) would also be very
instructional. Edmunds Scientific (http://scientificsonline.com/
category.asp_Q_c_E_424411, http://www.edmundoptics.com/) has a
number of inexpensive color and optics educational items.
